In order to avoid controversy during the ‘International Yoga Day’, the government removed the compulsory chanting of “Surya Namaskar” and “Shloka” from the official yoga program and urged the Muslims to take part in the event. AYUSH minister Shripad Naik suggested Muslims read Allah’s name instead of Shloka during this program.

The All India Muslim Personal Law Board protested against calling Surya Namaskar against the religion. The Muslim minority considered it to be a “Hindu agenda”.
